Mustard Fruit

 

Another one of my go-to condiments, mustard fruit sets off the sweetness of mulled fruit against the kick of mustard. Use the best grainy mustard you can for the most impressive results. Serve on top of roasted meats or as part of a platter of cheese and cured meats.

1 cup dry red wine

¼ cup red wine vinegar

½ cup sugar

1 teaspoon kosher salt

⅓ cup grainy mustard

½ teaspoon mustard seeds

1 underripe pear, cored and cut into cubes

1 cup dried tart cherries
